Novogen was formed in 1992 with private investor backing to commercialise the isoflavonoid drug technology platform that forms the basis of the current Novogen R&D program.
Novogen listed on the Australian Stock Market in 1994 and on the NASDAQ market in 1999. Funds raised through a series of equity placements since 1994, along with various grants from the Australian Government, have supported the Company's R&D program and brought it to the brink of commercialisation.
The Company's main focus has been the development of prescription drugs based on the isoflavonoid technology platform. However, one of the special features of this platform is that it lends itself to be used to develop non-prescription products. In 1995, Novogen took the decision to bring a range of consumer (non-prescription) health products to market while it was continuing to develop its prescription drugs. This strategy has provided invaluable therapeutic information that has helped guide the drug development program, as well as building up the Company's experience and infrastructure in the logistics of product manufacture, testing and marketing.
